MARY HELP OF CHRISTIANS PARISH, MANDWI

Brief History: The Parish of Mary Help of Christians, Mandwi, was formally declared a Parish on 1^stSeptember 2008, by bifurcating it from the Parishes of Moharpara and Mariamnagar. Fr. Thomas Lakra, S.D.B. and Fr. George Rodrigues, S.D.B. began to stay in the land given by the Diocese for the purpose of establishing the new Parish. On 26^th October 2008 Fr. Thomas Lakra, S.D.B. was installed as the first Parish Priest by Most Rev. Lumen Monteiro, C.S.C. At present, the Parish has 31 substations. Two Schools and two Hostels are located in the Parish jurisdiction. Don Bosco Centre, Baijalbari began under the precincts of the Parish, but is nowParish with two resident priests.

Brief History:

Don Bosco School, Mandwi was inaugurated on 22^nd January 2009. The School began with 84 children from Nursery to class II, majority of whom stayed in the Hostel. The first School was made of bamboo and tin roof. Since July 2020 the School is TBSE approved upto Class XII with just over 500 students and 25 teachers. We have a feeder school till Class V with hostel facilities at Sridam Kobra village.
