CHAILENGTA
ST. JOSEPH PARISH
Brief History: In 2006, late Fr. Mathew Ullattil, C.S.C. bought a land in Chailengta in view of establishing a School there. Bethany Sisters used to be frequent visitors to this place for evangelization work. In 2013, Holy Cross Fathers opened a school in the house premises of Mr. Moshiram Reang. Late Fr. Savarinathan, C.S.C. was appointed as the first principal. In February 2014, the V.S.D.B. Sisters arrived there to help in the Centre. In November 2014, the School was shifted to the present premises. In 2020, the V.S.D.B. Sisters left and in 2021, as the new Parish was established, the S.R.A. Sisters from Mumbai Province began their convent at Chailengta, the second in Agartala Diocese.
The Parish was inaugurated on 21st February, in the year of St. Joseph, and Fr. Thomas Pereira, C.S.C, was appointed as the first Parochial Administrator.
